Welcome to the Science Fiction DVD Review Page.

The world is full of great science fiction DVDs that I could list here (like Star Trek, Farscape, Stargate SG1, or whatever...) but I'm going to try to stick with the unique and unusual -- things that you might not have heard of, or might not be aware exist. So let's get started...

Land of the Lost was a cartoon that I watched back when I was a kid. Some of the concepts that I used in the Land of Devastation door game came from Land of the Lost (if you've ever played Land of Devastation and wondered where the 'pylons' came from)....

Anyhow, the DVDs (there is a season 1 and season 2 available) are very well done and true to what I recall of the original series. The acting and special effects are rather primitive, and the cartoon is of course geared toward the child level, but it's still kinda fun to watch!

Planet of the Vampires is cool 1960s era scifi movie that is a little bit reminiscent of Alien. It starts when a pair of space ships are diverted and crash land on a strange planet. The story focuses on the second of the two ships, which lands to find the first ship's crew slaughtered and possessed by aliens.

This is the original 1970s TV series, not the new Battlestar Galactica series on SciFi. I love the new Battlestar Galactica, but in my opinion the new series doesn't quite have the charm that the original had. The cylons are the good ol' tin-can looking guys with the ominous red eye that pans back and forth, and Dirk Benedict is perfect in his pre A-Team days as the adventurous and somewhat over the top Starbuck.

Buck Rogers was one of my favorite weekly series back when I was a teenager (or was it even earlier? I can't really recall...) Gil Gerard plays Buck Rogers in a manner much reminiscent of the way that Ben Browder played John Crichton  in Farscape -- lot's of humor and over-the-top heroic action. Erin Gray as Wilma Deering is Buck Rogers straight-shooting sidekick. Of course, in my opinion, the series would have been much better without the cartoonish Twiki, but every sci fi series needs it's cliche robot sidekick.
